Did you always want to go to college?
I didn’t know I wanted to go to college at first. I thought I wasn’t going to make it to college. People always say they can’t do things if they don’t get an education first. So when I graduated from high school I saw myself going to college and just making it.
What is the biggest way Guardian Scholars helped you?
They helped a lot. My first time here I didn’t know what to do, and I had classes that I didn’t need. They helped me plan my resources out. They helped me stay on the right track.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Transferred to San Francisco State, Cal State East Bay or out of state. I want to be a Nurse Practitioner, but I would hope to have my masters degree and be working as a RN. Also, I would hope to have my own business for foster youth and the homeless.
If you could give a message to all current foster youth, what would you say?
Don’t give up. If you look, there is always someone there to help you.
Whenever you feel down or feel like giving up, remember that someone is always there for you—no matter what!
