Graduate, California State University Dominguez Hills
Major: Sociology, with minor in Criminal Justice
I entered foster care at birth due to my mother being a chronic user of substances and remained in care for 10 years. My grandmother took legal guardianship of me at the age of 10 and luckily I did not have to transition in and out of homes or schools. After I graduated high school I attended California State University, Dominguez Hills. I obtained my Bachelors of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice and currently work as an assistant supervisor in a group home setting.
The biggest factors to my success would be EOP and the United Friends College Sponsorship program. Whenever I felt stuck or did not know information about my degree progress or assistance with career training, I could reach out to either program to assist me in what I needed and I didn’t feel like I was alone; they were like a second family to reach out to that made my journey through college a lot easier.
